Meath forward Forde set to miss the rest of the season after knee injury

Meath are set to be without attacker Alan Forde for the rest of the season after he sustained a suspected cruciate knee ligament injury.

The Navan O'Mahonys clubman has featured regularly under Andy McEntee this season but was forced off just ten minutes into Sunday's facile win over Fermanagh in Navan.

And while he will undergo a scan tonight (Monday), manager McEntee is fearing the worst.

"Alan, we're waiting on, he's getting a scan this evening, so we'll know a bit more then but it looks like it's the same," he said.

There is some good news for Meath supporters with Mickey Newman edging back towards full fitness.

"It looks like Mickey Newman is close to coming back, to getting a few games under his belt. He'll be a plus to us. The likes of James McEntee, he came back in (against Fermanagh), he got half a game there, he got half a game against Cork.

"These are all guys who have experienced Leinster championship before so we'd be happy enough on that front."
