McMahon ponders appeal after being hit by ban for abusive ref comments
Philly McMahon has yet to decide whether to appeal against the one-match suspension which he received on Monday night.
The two-time All Star was given the ban at a hearing after it emerged that he had been reported for making abusive comments to referee Paddy Neilan in the wake of Dublin's Allianz Football League final defeat against Kerry.
McMahon had been yellow-carded in the second half while Dublin also had claims for a penalty that manager Jim Gavin highlighted earlier this month.
Gavin questioned the logic of appointing an inexperienced referee to such a match.
McMahon will now miss Saturday week's Leinster Championship opener against Carlow in O'Moore Park but has three days to lodge an appeal on technical grounds.
