McKenna Cup: Kerr stars as Down ease past Erne
Down 1-11 Fermanagh 0-7
Down were good value for their seven-point victory over a Fermanagh side that struggled to get going and were successful with only seven of their 24 shots in this opening McKenna Cup fixture.
The visitors were much more economical and much better at carving out clear-cut scoring chances, especially in the second half where they outscored Fermanagh by 1-7 to 0-4.

Their goal came from first-half substitute Liam Kerr who finished the day with 1-3 to his name. His goal came with seven minutes left and followed a super Down move that saw Kerr take a Barry O'Hagan flicked pass to finish in style.
The first half saw only two points in the opening 20 minutes with Ryan Jones scoring for the home side and Kerr replying for the visitors. The second half saw Down kick the first three scores inside the first 14 minutes with Pat Havern on target from play and Johnny Flynn and Conor Poland joining the scoring party.
Kerr slipped over two more points from play before McGurn rounded off the scoring for the Erne men.
Down had that Kerr goal and a fine effort from another substitute, Ross Carr, to bring the game to a close.
