McHale and Durkin help create history for Parke

Parke 2-16
Eslin 2-9
Connacht Club JFC Final

PARKE laid the foundations for their first provincial title success when they built a commanding 13-point lead over Leitrim champions Eslin in the first half at McHale Park yesterday.

The Mayo champions had too much firepower for the visitors and although Eslin staged a mini revival with two second-half goals, a more experienced Parke side were always in command.

With Sean McHale and Darren Durkin finding the net, Parke shot to a 2-12 to 0-5 half-time lead.

Things brightened for Eslin in the second half and at one stage they looked to be mounting a serious comeback after goals from Ronan Reynolds and substitute Enda Turbitt.

But it was not to be and Parke clung on to see out the game with a couple of late scores from the excellent Richard O'Boyle and Durkin.
