McCann goal sinks Dreadnots
IT was St Patrick's day once again in Drogheda as the Louth kingpins marched to their fifth senior title in 10 seasons.
Raging hot favourites before the off, complacency was possibly the reigning champions' biggest danger against first-time finalists Dreadnots, but an authoritative start, coupled with Aidan McCann's timely goal on the stroke of half-time, ensured a shock was never really on the cards.
Their opponenents needed to make an early impression, but they fell five points in arrears before Conor Campbell finally opened their account in the 22nd minute.
By that stage, Paddy Keenan, Eoin O'Connor, Eamon Carroll and Daniel O'Connor (two) had pieced together a commanding lead for Pat's.
Forced to throw caution to the wind in the closing stages, Dreadnots left gaps at the back and the champions ruthlessly picked them off.
