Mayo forward Cillian O'Connor is expected to be out for a number of weeks after undergoing surgery on his knee.
The star forward featured for Ballintubber in their Connacht Club final defeat to Corofin on November 25 and the Mayo County Board last night confirmed he underwent surgery on his knee and will be "back on the pitch in the coming weeks" as James Horan prepares for another stint in charge.
"The Mayo Senior squad are continuing their preparations for 2019 with training sessions underway in both Mayo & Dublin for the past number of weeks," read a statement.
"The latest injury news on the squad is as follows: Cillian O'Connor (knee) recently underwent surgery, we look forward to having him back on the pitch in the coming weeks."
"Straight after the match Offaly chairman Pat Teehan gave me the nod and said, 'We'll go now and we'll make it at half-time', and he put the foot down, only stopping to do his Lotto, and got me there for half-time and I came on a few minutes later."
