Mayo v London - Game at a glance

MAN OF THE MATCH

Martin Breheny

Aidan O'Shea

London needed to assert themselves early on to have any hope of testing Mayo, but they were well beaten at midfield, where O'Shea made a succession of high catches, mostly off opposition kick-outs. It helped set the agenda for Mayo as they swept to one of their easiest ever Connacht final successes.

TURNING POINT

None. Mayo were dominant from the start. Alan Freeman's goal in the 11th minute accelerated their sprint to a position of dominance that they never looked like giving up

TALKING POINT

Will Mayo's easy run through Connacht leave them vulnerable in the All-Ireland quarter-final? They learned nothing new in three games where they overwhelmed the opposition.

MAGIC MOMENT

London's arrival onto the pitch for their first ever Connacht final. The day ended in disappointment for the visitors, but it was still a special occasion, having finally made it to the west's big day.

REF WATCH

London could feel aggrieved that Conor Lane did not award them a penalty in the 41st minute when Cathal Magee appeared to be fouled in the square. Other than that, the official had a good day. He was especially vigilant on petty fouling, yellow-carding seven London players.

WHAT THEY SAID

James Horan (Mayo manager):

"It's our third Connacht title in a row – we'll take that. We got through it, but our level of performance wasn't what we would have hoped for. We have a lot of stuff we need to look at after that game."

Paul Coggins (London manager):

"It was a big step up playing a team like Mayo. Like we said all along, they are a very good Division 1 team with plenty of match practice. I'm proud of our lads for what they did and how they kept battling away for the whole game."
