Mayo look home and hosed
Connacht kings crush Rossies to set up possible Castlebar final
MAYO'S bid for their first Connacht football three-in-a-row in 62 years could yet be boosted by having home advantage for the provincial final.
Yesterday's 12-point defeat of Roscommon lines the reigning champions up to play either Leitrim or London in the Connacht decider on July 21.
Dr Hyde Park in Roscommon is the obvious neutral venue but its capacity has been reduced to less than 19,000 following the Slattery Report, a health and safety review of the GAA's county grounds.
Connacht Council said last night that a venue for the final will not be verified until after the second semi-final but it is believed that 'The Hyde' will be ruled out due to its limited capacity and that the game could yet go to McHale Park in Castlebar, though that would need the agreement of their opposition.
