A wonder goal from midfielder Joe Maskey propelled Ulster champions Naomh Éanna to a memorable semi-final victory at Páirc Tailteann yesterday.

The quick-thinking Maskey hit an effort from 45 metres into an unguarded net after An Spidéal keeper Maghnus Breathnach lost possession after making an outfield foray.

That goal on 26 minutes boosted the Antrim side into a 3-4 to 0-4 lead and spelt the death knell for An Spidéal.

The Connacht champions conceded the opening goal when Kristian Healy hit the net on seven minutes. They added to their tally as Ruairí Scott netted on 19 minutes.

Antaine Ó Laoi converted four frees in that opening half for An Spidéal and Cormac Lee added another.

Naomh Éanna had Odhran Eastwood to thank for their second-half contribution as he took his tally to seven points.

An Spidéal's misery was compounded when captain Cianán Ó Laoi was red carded for a high challenge.

Casey the hero for Kilcummin

Kilcummin 0-11 Two Mile House 0-10

Phillip Casey's long-range stoppage-time free at the Gaelic Grounds sent Kilcummin into the final.

The sides were level five times. Kilcummin led by two points at half-time but were reduced to 14 men nine minutes into the second half when Kevin Gorman was given a red card.

Two Mile House fought back but Kilcummin refused to buckle and Casey's 44-metre free won it.

Two Mile House made a fast start with three unanswered points but then had captain Peter Kelly black carded, and Kilcummin inched ahead with points from Gavin O'Leary, Matt Keane and Noel Duggan (2).

Aidan Casey's free levelled it for Two Mile House but Keane and Duggan gave the Kerry side a half-time lead.

Chris Healy and Casey drew the Kildare men level, and they got a huge boost when Gorman was sent off. But Kilcummin held their nerve and prevailed in a dramatic final thanks to Phillip Casey's free.
