Louth are in pole position for an O'Byrne Cup semi-final spot in Group 4 with a laboured win over Maynooth University in Darver.
A win over Carlow on Sunday would send Colin Kelly's side through with a 100pc record, but that did look in jeopardy at times last night.
Backed by a strong wind, Maynooth led by 1-6 to 0-6 at the break, with the excellent Ryan O'Rourke finding the net on 19 minutes.
Louth's revival took a while to materialise as Kelly emptied his bench, but they eventually overhauled the gritty students with a goal from substitute Dean Maguire.
Caoimhin O'Reilly hit back immediately, making it a one-point game, 1-8 to 1-7, but Louth's subs took over with Jim McEneaney, Anthony Williams, Tommy Durnin and Ronan Holcroft all on target.
A draw would be enough to send the Wee County through when they welcome Carlow to Dundalk.
