London's Canty turns on the style

London 1-19 Roscommon 1-17

London withstood a late Roscommon comeback at sun-baked Ruislip to end a run of three straight defeats.

The home side were in fine scoring form, with just three points coming from dead balls. Centre-forward Kevin Canty was the star man for the Exiles with six from play.

After a shaky start, London knocked over eight points in some style without reply to lead 0-13 to 0-9 at half-time.

The game looked sewn up when Shane Ryan netted inside the first minute of the second half and with little over 10 minutes left London's lead was 10 points.

However, Roscommon's Michael Kelly lashed a free to the net and quickly added two further points, but the second of those was a goal chance that was blazed over.
