Lennon out for decider

Louth will be without star full-forward Shane Lennon for their NFL Division 3 final clash with Westmeath in Croke Park on Saturday week, writes Donnchadh Boyle.

Lennon aggravated a quad muscle injury in the warm-up before the promotion-clinching win over Waterford last weekend. He had also sat out the previous round, when the Wee men lost to Cavan.

"I first injured my quad in a club league match (for Kilkerley Emmets) against Newtown Blues two and a half weeks ago, but I thought that with the treatment and rest, I would have been okay for the Waterford game.

"But after what happened on Sunday, I won't be rushing back, and the Division 3 final will definitely come too soon for me."

Elsewhere, Westmeath forward David Glennon is set to become the latest county player to transfer to a Dublin club. The Tyrrellspass man, brother of Westmeath captain David, is expected to join Malahide outfit St Sylvester's.
