Leinster crown goes to St Pat's

REIGNING Leinster and All-Ireland champions St Mary's, Edenderry lost their crowns in Cusack Park, Mullingar yesterday afternoon when St Patrick's, Navan regained the provincial title with a deserved win.

SUBSTITUTE Jamie Lydon and Mark McHugh kicked crucial late points as St Gerald's, Castlebar defeated St Jarlath's, Tuam in a disappointing Connacht Colleges Senior A final at Ballinrobe.

Prompted by the splendid James Durcan, St Gerald's, backed by a strong wind, led by 0-5 to 1-1 at the interval. Jarlath's goal came courtesy of a 15th-minute Patrick Madden penalty.

It was tight after the restart too, but Jarlath's were dealt a blow when they had midfielder Dara Walsh sent off in the 38th minute after he picked up a second yellow card

WARWICKSHIRE 0-14

FOUR months on from Calry/St Joseph's defeat on the same Birmingham pitch in the Junior Club Championship, several of the same players headed back with a better outcome as Sligo defeated Warwickshire. Gary Waldron's close-range conversion in the first half set the visitors on their way, and a controlled second-half performance was capped by further goals from Kevin Gilmartin and Ciaran Brennan.
