Cork will contest this year's Division 1 semi-finals after Brian Hurley's last gasp goal gave them victory over a brave Mayo side by 2-7 to 0-12 at Pairc Ui Rinn.

Mayo looked to be in trouble in the opening half when a Mark Collins goal gave Brian Cuthbert's men an early lead as they played into a stiff breeze.

Tom Parsons hit a brace of scores as Mayo eroded Cork's advantage and led by 0-7 to 1-3 at half time.

Cork played with the strong wind in the second half, exemplified by Conor Dorman's effort from 70 yards which bounced over the bar, but they struggled to assert.

The sides were level on numerous occasions until brilliant scores from Kevin McLoughlin and Stephen Coen looked to have given Mayo a decisive two point lead despite playing into the elements.

The Rebels took the two points on offer in the final minutes as Hurley flicked Conor Dorman's long ball to the net for a won by a solitary point.
