Last-gasp Roche goal sparks Roscommon's sinking feeling
A goal in the second minute of injury-time from corner-forward Shane Roche kept Wexford's promotion push very much alive at Dr Hyde Park.
While Wexford know that a win in their final game against Antrim will guarantee them Division 2 football next season, this result sent Roscommon the other way, making Division 4 a reality for Fergal O'Donnell's side in 2011.
Things looked good for Roscommon at the break, leading by 0-7 to 0-6 having played against a stiff breeze. However, the home side were a major disappointment in the second half as Wexford picked off the required scores .
Wexford controlled the second half as Roscommon made no impression with the wind behind them.
A brace of Roche frees had put Wexford firmly in the ascendancy before Cathal McHugh's 67th-minute goal gave Roscommon a Division 3 lifeline. Yet they couldn't build on that and Roche punished them deep into additional time.
