Kingdom prove to be just too powerful for the Yeatsmen
Kerry 2-21 Sligo 0-10
Kerry made it through to the final following a devastating second-half performance against Sligo at Cusack Park. The sides were level on 0-8 apiece at half-time but the Kingdom scored 1-7 without reply in the third quarter, with sub Dara Roche getting the goal, and effectively killed off the game.
Sligo eventually added to their half-time tally with a point by midfielder Ray Connolly on 46 minutes. But the power and pace of their opponents had, by this stage, overwhelmed them.
Kerry centre-back Denis Daly wrapped up the victory close to the end, when after an impressive solo run that began on the 65m line, he crashed to the Sligo net from close range.
Sub Darragh Cummins recorded Sligo's second score of the half, a point with two minutes on the clock. Gavan O'Grady's contribution to Kerry's success cannot be underestimated, the Glenbeigh/Glencar man kicking 0-7 from open play.
