The Athy duo of David Hyland and Darroch Mulhall have informed Kildare manager Jason Ryan that they are leaving the panel following the drubbing from Dublin at the weekend.

Mulhall has become a peripheral figure in the Lilywhite set up in recent months, while his clubmate David Hyland, who came on for Ollie Lyons in the first half of the Dublin game after the Celbridge man suffered a hand injury, has also left the panel.

The pair are expected to spend the rest of the summer in the states and informed Ryan of their decision just three days after they were beaten by 19 points by All-Ireland favourites Dublin.

It is a blow to Kildare who have lost the services of the likes of Johnny Doyle, Mick Foley, Morgan O’Flaherty, Ronan Sweeney, Dermot Earley, Brian Flanagan, Hugh McGrillen, Seán Hurley, Shane Connolly and Paddy Brophy over the past two years.

Ryan has the unenviable task of trying to pick up his players following their heavy Dublin defeat for this Saturday's Round 2B football qualifier with Offaly in Tullamore.
