Kevin McCarthy scores 3-7 from play as Kilcummin are crowned All-Ireland intermediate champions
Kilcummin 5-13 Naomh Eanna 2-9
Kevin McCarthy set Croke Park alight with a brilliant attacking display, hitting 3-7 from play as Kilcummin swept to the All-Ireland Club IFC title at Croke Park tonight.
Two goals inside the opening seven minutes, from Matt Keane and McCarthy, saw the Munster men build up an early nine points lead.
The Ulster champions hit back with goals from Eoin Nagle and Kristian Healy, but a third Kilcummin goal, scored by Kieran Murphy from the penalty spot, helped them to a 3-6 to 2-4 interval lead.
Kilcummin maintained a high level of intensity and pace throughout, and two magnificent goals from the unplayable McCarthy, one of Kerry’s brightest prospects for the future, sealed a stylish win.
Odhran Eastwood’s seven points were never going to be enough, particularly with former Kerry goalkeeper Brendan Kealy in top form, with two excellent second half saves.
