Kerry ease relegation fears with victory over Cork
Kerry eased their relegation fears with a hard-fought 0-11 to 0-7 win over Cork in Tralee.
Both sides began tentatively and exchanged early scores before Fintan Goold put the visitors in front with a fine point.
Kerry responded however and a third successful free was followed up by a great score from Anthony Maher put the Kingdom in front 0-4 to 0-3 and that was the score at the break.
Johnny Buckley and Fintan Goold traded points at the outset of the second half with neither side taking control.
Kieran O'Leary became the first Kerry forward to score from play soon afterwards as Kerry extended their lead to three points and then Colm Cooper and Paul Galvin entered the fray.
Another Johnny Buckley free was followed up by a point from Galvin as Kerry went 0-10 to 0-5 in front with 10 minutes remaining.
Kieran Donaghy added another point as Kerry recorded a priceless four-point win.
