Kenny's early strike puts Wicklow on their way
Wicklow 2-10 London 1-10
Wicklow ended a poor League campaign on a positive note by holding on for a much-needed win at Ruislip.
The Garden County netted at both ends of the first half and four unanswered points after the restart looked to have put them on course for a comfortable victory.
However, Wicklow failed to score in the final 27 minutes and London rallied. The Exiles cut the deficit to three points late on but the visitors held on to snap a four-game losing streak.
London were seeking back-to-back victories but conceded a goal after 25 seconds through Mark Kenny.
Liam Gavaghan brought the hosts level on nine minutes when he ran on to Dualtach Molloy's pass and beat William Hender, and there was never more than one score between the teams until the final minute of the first half.
Dean Healy struck a hammer blow when he was allowed to race in on goal unopposed. Although Gavin McEvoy saved his initial shot, the centre-back buried the rebound to give Wicklow a 2-6 to 1-5 lead at the interval.
The visitors doubled their advantage with a flurry of points at the start of the second half but the introduction of Lorcan Mulvey coincided with a London revival. But London were unable to muster a late scoring chance as Wicklow held on.
