Kennelly on hunt for AFL recruits
TADHG KENNELLY, who claimed All-Ireland glory with Kerry and won the AFL Premiership with Sydney Swans, will host an AFL fitness test in Dublin tomorrow for the third successive year.
Kennelly has already overseen two camps in this country as part of AFL Europe's trawl for new talent.
Earlier this year, Kildare footballer Daniel Flynn was among those who attended a two-day camp in DCU and as a consequence of his testing results he was offered a contract with Port Adelaide, which he took up last month.
Twenty-two athletes will attend the session, which will incorporate examinations in agility, vertical jump, endurance, speed and skills.
"These tests are the same as those conducted in Australia and enable us to compare athletes from all over the world," Kennelly said. "With the recent listing of Daniel Flynn with Port Adelaide we are really excited about the future of this programme and the talent identified."
