Jones goal sends Farney on their way
Monaghan 3-12 Antrim 0-6
A sharper Monaghan had little difficulty in getting over the challenge of Antrim in this one-sided encounter at Corrigan Park, Belfast.
Monaghan were never threatened despite having to play the second half with 14 players after the dismissal of Aaron Mulligan. Monaghan led at half-time by 2-4 to 0-1, the goals by Sean Jones in the sixth minute and Loughlin Power in the 16th minute as Antrim struggled.
A third goal within a minute of the resumption killed off the contest. The visitors played out the final minutes with 12 players as Andrew Moore had to retire injured and goalkeeper Ryan Farrelly was stretchered off.
