St Mary's College stunned Donegal as Ryan Johnston's late goal helped fire Paddy Tally's students to a deserved win.

Donegal were left to rue a glut of missed chances at the start of the second half and the sending off of Paddy McGrath, for a second yellow card in the 52nd minute, didn't help their cause. But St Mary's deserved their win for the manner in which they closed out the game.

'The Ranch' arrived in Letterkenny armed with a defensive shield that included 13 or 14 players for the most part, but the students rattled in an early goal when Jack Grogan wrong-footed full-back Eamonn Doherty in the seventh minute before firing to the Tir Chonaill net.

And four minutes from time, a blistering break caught Donegal out and Johnston showed a clean pair of heels before rifling powerfully past Danny Rodgers.
