Jim Gavin's Dublin have made a winning start to the season.

Fresh from their league success, Dublin football manager Jim Gavin has been awarded as the Philips Ireland Manager of the Month for April.

The Dubs claimed their successive National league title with a comprehensive 3-13 to 1-10 victory over Derry. The nature of their victory was emphasised by the fact they hit 17 wides.

It follows a seven point success over Cork at the semi-final stage.

The silverware adds to their All-Ireland success from last year and Dublin are odds-on to retain Sam Maguire under the tutelage of Gavin.

Gavin was selected as Manager of the Year 2013.
