Injury-time Malone strike saves day as Queen's reach decider
Queen's, Belfast 2-11 UCC 1-13 O'Connor Cup semi-final
QUEEN'S University advanced to a first final by dumping holders UCC out of the competition at Waterford IT sports campus.
Queen's needed a goal deep in stoppage-time from midfielder Caitlin Malone to force extra-time.
And James Daly's side grabbed a second, decisive goal three minutes into the first period of extra-time, scored by Louise Kelly.
At half-time in extra-time, Kelly's goal separated the sides and Queen's held out to set up a final showdown with three-time winners DCU this afternoon (1.0).
They showed true grit to force extra-time, after UCC had called upon all their experience following the sin-binning of Aoife Lyons.
Niamh McKernan was sin-binned late on but Queen's hung on.
