Kildare made it two from two in the O'Byrne Cup last night as they recorded their second comfortable win of their campaign, disposing of Offaly at the Faithful Fields centre of excellence in Kilcormac.

They were dominant throughout and able to empty the bench in the second half as a powerful second-quarter performance set them on their way against an Offaly side who struggled to come to terms with their tempo and power.

Kildare bossed the opening half and laid the platform with a dominant display in the middle third.

Offaly couldn't get to grips with the breaking ball and although they were level at 0-2 each early on, Kildare clicked into gear after that.

Jimmy Hyland was firing well up front with five first-half points while all six Kildare forwards were on the first-half score-sheet after Adam Tyrell curled over a free to make it 0-12 to 0-4.

Kildare hit an unanswered 1-8 in the final 20 minutes of the half with a goal from Padraig Fogarty just before half-time giving them a 1-14 to 0-4 half-time lead.

Offaly did produce a better showing in the second half with Bernard Allen showing well up front, but Kildare were able to keep tagging on a few scores to maintain their comfortable cushion.

Kildare also had an excellent contribution from their bench with scores from David Malone, Fionn Dowling and Brian McLoughlin adding to efforts from Eoghan O'Flaherty and Adam Tyrell.
