Gottsche puts seal on Exiles' spirited comeback
London finished off their campaign on a winning note with this two-point victory in Baltinglass.
The Exiles were full value for their win, having looked the better team in the first and last third.
Key to their victory were two second-half goals. The first came after Lorcan Mulvey caught a long ball above Wicklow corner-back Paul Cunningham and fed Martin Carroll and the midfielder rattled the net.
Two minutes later, nifty corner-forward Alan O'Hara stuck the ball into the corner of the net.
London had started the game the better and had led by 0-4 to 0-2 after 20 minutes. Wicklow recovered well and went in leading 0-5 to 0-4.
The Garden County emerged sharper after the half-time break and pushed into a 0-10 to 0-6 lead, but London hung on in there and after they bagged the two goals, they battened down the hatches.
They sealed the deal when Mark Gottsche pointed a free in the 71st minute.
Wicklow had time to go in search of a goal, but Paul Goggins' men were having none of it.
