Good Counsel New Ross progressed to the semi-finals

FIVE of their forwards plus a midfielder scored from play as Good Counsel New Ross progressed to the semi-finals by beating St Brendan's CS, Birr in Castlecomer.

Full-forward Jack Guiney contributed five points, three from frees, while Mark Mansfield, Garret Foley and Shane O'Gorman also played key roles.

Good Counsel, who scored three unanswered points in the first 12 minutes, led by 0-6 to 0-3 at the break and never looked in danger.

Corner-forward Darragh Cleary was the only St Brendan's player to score from play.
