Galway rocked by Armstrong injury setback

Galway's hopes of making a quick return to Divison 1 of the Allianz NFL have suffered a big setback after forward Sean Armstrong was ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.

Galway got their bid for promotion back on track on Sunday with a 1-12 to 1-11 win over Meath, but will now not be able to call on the experienced Armstrong, who suffered a bruised bone in a leg in training which will keep him out of action for four to six weeks.

Armstrong had only returned to action for the first time this year as a sub against Westmeath last Sunday week after an ongoing hamstring injury.

The Salthill-Knocknacarra man did not feature in Sunday's win, and the latest injury is a huge blow after he had spent the past five months working on his troublesome hamstring.
