NICKY JOYCE is the highest-profile casualty after Galway football boss Alan Mulholland trimmed his squad ahead of their Connacht championship opener against Roscommon on May 20. Joyce (right) is unable to give the required commitment, though Mulholland left the door ajar for a return by insisting the panel would remain open-ended throughout the season.

Also gone from the Tribesmen's squad are defenders Damien O'Reilly and Donal O'Neill, and forwards Eoin Concannon, Johnny Ryan, Cathal Kenny and Joe Joe Greaney.

However, Michael Meehan is included in the list of 31 as he continues to battle with a career-threatening ankle injury.

Sligo attacker David Kelly will miss the Yeatsmen's trip to the Big Apple to face New York, but he should be available for the clash with Galway or Roscommon, presuming they overcome the Exiles.

Cork's Ciaran Sheehan will miss out on Sunday's league Division 1 decider against Mayo, but he will line out for his club Eire Og as he continues his recovery from a knee injury.

Tyrone full-back Justin McMahon has been ruled out of Sunday's NFL Division 2 final against Kildare. McMahon has not been able to train since picking up a hamstring injury in a club game 10 days ago.

Attacker Martin Penrose is also out of the Croke Park title decider.
