GAA team news: Three debutants for Cavan, Cooper out for Dubs and McEntee rings changes for Meath
NEW Cavan football manager Mattie McGleenan has revealed the line-up that, he hopes, can ambush All-Ireland champions Dublin in Kingspan Breffni Park this Sunday.
The former Tyrone forward has handed Allianz Football League debuts to three members of his squad as Cavan make their long-awaited return to Division 1.
While Gerard Smith featured in last year's championship, the Lavey clubman will be making his first league start at wing-forward. Castlerahan's Fergal Reilly and Niall Clerkin of Shercock will also be making their NFL bows, at corner-back and corner-forward respectively.
Jim Gavin has yet to unveil his starting 15 as the Dubs prepare to launch their quest for an incredible fifth consecutive Division 1 title.
However, it has been confirmed that All Star defender Jonny Cooper must sit out the trip to Cavan because of a cumulative ban arising from two black cards against Mayo last year (in the All-Ireland final replay and an earlier league clash) and a double-yellow dismissal against Cork (in March).
Elsewhere, Meath boss Andy McEntee has unveiled his first league team - to face Kildare on Sunday - with just six survivors from Mick O'Dowd's last selection, a losing qualifier against Derry last July.
Cian O'Neill has kept faith with 13 of the Kildare team that started their faltering O'Byrne Cup semi-final against Dublin, with Mark Hyland and the injured Fionn Dowling replaced by Ollie Lyons and Tommy Moolick.
