Frewen sends Limerick on way

Limerick 3-10
Waterford 2-4

Limerick cruised into the next round when they outplayed Waterford in Kilmallock.

A goal inside two minutes by Danny Frewen put Limerick on their way and when Brian Noonan got a second after 10 minutes, the home side were up 2-3 to 0-0.

The Treaty County went on to lead 2-6 to 1-2 at the interval with full-forward Eoin Walsh getting the Waterford goal.

Limerick kept up the pressure on the resumption and a goal by Pat O'Donell killed off the game as a contest. Such was their dominance that corner-back Shane Reynolds was able to move forward sufficiently to score a point.

Waterford introduced Cormac Condon for Eanna O Ceallaigh late on and Condon got their second goal, but it was too late as Limerick had the game won at that stage..
