Five players have been hit with proposed one match sanctions arising out of Sunday’s pre match parade brawl between Cavan and Armagh in the Ulster quarter final.
Cavan’s Martin Dunne and Fergal Flanagan and Armagh trio, Andy Mallon and Kieran Toner will all miss their next championship match unless they successfully challenge the charges laid against them by the Central Compeition Controls Committee.
Dunne will miss the next match, a qualifier game against Westmeath, because of a badly broken hand which was understood to have been picked up during the incident.
Armagh have indicated that they will seek hearings from the Central Hearings Committee for all three of their players while Cavan will consider their position later.
Both County Boards have been hit with proposed €5,000 fines. Armagh have already indicated that they will challenge this too.
The brawl broke out when the two teams clashed over which side they should line up behind the band for the parade.
Armagh stood behind the Cavan flag on the outside but Cavan sought to dislodge them from that position, kicking off an unseemly spectacle.
