Fitzmaurice doubles up

Kerry manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice will have to extend his playing career for another two weeks after he helped Finuge reach the final.

Fitzmaurice kicked two points in the second half at Limerick's Gaelic Grounds.

"The win, when you are playing with your club and you get to play in Croke Park, gave me immense personal satisfaction," he said. "We have a lot to do in the next few weeks."

It was 0-3 each at the interval and, a minute into the second half, Leonard Havens raced through to nudge Monasterevin in front for the first and only time. Two points by Fitzmaurice soon had Finuge back in front.

A second point by Havens left only a point between them before Finuge had the last three points from Paudie Galvin, Maurice Corridan and James Flaherty to close it out.

Finuge were denied on one occasion by a superb save with his feet by the Monasterevin goalkeeper Colin McCabe.
