Fitzgerald drives on Kerry
Alan Fitzgerald gave an exhibition of kicking as Kerry juniors eased their way through to the final against Cork.
With the Kerry corner-forward helping himself to 1-8, of which 1-7 came from placed balls, the Kingdom -- for whom midfielder Andrew Garnett was also outstanding -- just had too much up front for a poor Limerick side at the Gaelic Grounds.
Leading 0-9 to 0-5 at the break, Kerry all but ended this game as a contest just five minutes into the second half when Fitzgerald clinically dispatched a penalty to give the visitors a commanding 1-10 to 0-5 advantage.
Limerick had started brightly and led 0-3 to 0-1 early on, thanks in large to the promptings of full-forward Garrett Noonan. But then the Treaty men faltered, as they managed just 0-3 in the final 55 minutes.
