Fannin pulls strings for cavan
In the end class told and Cavan reflected their better footballing know-how on the scoreboard at Nowlan Park yesterday evening.
The visitors won through to a final showdown with Kildare, but they will have to improve on this if they are to land their first Leinster title -- particularly their finishing, as they shot eight first-half wides.
With Keith Fannin pulling the strings up front, Robert Malloney-Derham, Jack Brady and Declan Meehan kicked Cavan into a healthy lead.
However, Kilkenny didn't lie down and points from David Prendergast and Robert Shore left them 0-5 to 0-2 down at the break.
Meehan and impressive midfielder Niall McKiernan widened the gap. After Kilkenny had a goal disallowed, Cavan pulled away, but they will need a sharper cutting edge in future contests.
