Early Tubridy strike sparks rout
HAPLESS Kilkenny suffered another humiliating day on the football pitch yesterday.
Although playing well within themselves, Clare still went on a scoring spree at Nowlan Park to leave their disorganised opponents on the wrong end of a terrible beating.
The locals were in trouble from the throw-in and a rout was on the cards once David Tubridy scored Clare's opening goal from a penalty after seven minutes.
A second goal, this time in the 15th minute from Chris Dunning, helped the visitors into a commanding interval lead of 2-9 to 0-1, with Graham Lalor managing Kilkenny's only point from a free.
The Banner County added the exact same score after the restart without ever having to move beyond second gear as Lalor added another solitary point for the Cats.
