Dwyer stars as Counsel blitz sinks Wicklow
Good Counsel 3-16 Wicklow Schools 0-3 (Leinster PP Schools SFC 'A')
Good Counsel of Wexford laid down a marker for top honours with a resounding victory over an outclassed Wicklow Schools in this quarter-final in Bray.
Martin Fitzharris scored a point off each foot inside the opening three minutes for a great start and Counsel scored 2-5 before Wicklow registered their first score, a free from goalkeeper Mark Jackson.
Mikey Dwyer got Good Counsel's two goals, the second indicative of their type of play. The ball was played long into full-forward Sam Wall who laid it off to the on-rushing Dwyer to finish.
Wicklow had good possession early on but failed to get the ball into shooting positions. Conor Byrne caused the Good Counsel defence problems, while Jackson made three very good saves. Good Counsel led 2-6 to 0-2 at half-timeand in the second half they picked off scores at will for an easy win.
