Corner-forward Stephen Duffy was the hero for St Patrick's as he pointed them to a 13th senior football title on Saturday.

This two-point win over parish rivals Rathnew was particularly sweet as they had suffered at the hands of 'the Village' in 2015 and 2014.

Duffy accounted for eight of his team's 10 points, seven of them from his unerring frees.

With seven minutes remaining Rathnew were ahead, 0-8 to 0-6, having led for most of the game up to that stage.

Duffy narrowed the gap to a point from a free on 55 minutes and Tommy Kelly levelled proceedings three minutes later.

In between, Rathnew sustained another blow - they were reduced to 14 men with the dismissal of full-forward Mark Doyle.

Up to the last six minutes, all the scores for Pat's had come from frees and the boot of Duffy.

However, three minutes into injury time Duffy pointed from play to put his team in front for the second time.
