Dublin star Philly McMahon paid tribute to five-year-old cancer victim ‘Batman’ Ben Farrell after today's narrow win over Kerry.

Ben Farrell, aged just 5, passed away over a week ago after a lengthy battle with kidney cancer.

Affectionately known as ‘Batman’ Ben, the youngster captured the heart of the nation as he battled for life.

A minute's applause was observed by tens of thousands of fans in the fifth minute of today's game at Croke Park after a Twitter campaign during the week.

Corner-back Philly McMahon tweeted: 'The little batman was watching over us! #batmanben'
