Limerick SFC Final

MONALEEN almost left it behind them in a dramatic finale to this Limerick SFC decider at the Gaelic Grounds yesterday. Holding a very comfortable eight-point cushion with five minutes left on the clock, and their fans preparing to invade the pitch in celebration of a third title, they were left to sweat it out after substitute Michael Greaney and Séamus O'Donnell beat goalkeeper Paddy O'Halloran. Unfortunately for St Kieran's they ran out of time.

In the end the winners, who dominated for so long, were thankful that their county star Muiris Gavin was available to briefly enter the action after half-time. Gavin, out with injury for the last two months, made an immediate impact and his four points inside an eight-minute period opened an 0-11 to 0-3 lead.
