Doyle rolling back the years
Kildare 1-18 Longford 1-9
Kildare veteran Johnny Doyle (41) rolled back the years, coming off the bench to help the defending champions to victory over Longford in last night's Leinster Junior Champoinship semi-final at St Conleth's Park.
Jack Robinson and Padraig Nash shared the points between them as Kildare scored the first five points of the game.
Conor Farrell's 21st minute goal briefly brought Longford back on level terms at 0-6 to 1-3 but Kildare finished the half 0-11 to 1-4 ahead.
They extended their lead by scoring the first three points of the second half. Kildare introduced former All-Star Doyle after the break and he went on to score three points before Robinson made sure of the win with a well-taken goal in the 46th minute.
Longford rallied in the last quarter but were denied goals thanks to 'keeper Matthew Duggan's save and Owen Whelan's goal-line clearance.
