Donnellan the hero

MAYNOOTH 2-10 SCHULL CC 1-12 (After extra-time)

MARK DONNELLAN'S point in the final minute of extra-time secured glory for Maynooth in a dramatic final at Sean Treacy Park in Tipperary Town.

Donnellan, the Lilywhites' minor goalkeeper last year, bagged 1-9 as the Kildare school atoned for their 2008 All-Ireland final defeat in style.

And it was Donnellan's 80th-minute point from an acute angle that finally ended the dogged resistance of Schull Community College, who had led by six points with just 11 minutes of normal time remaining.

Donnellan kick-started the revival by drilling home a 49th-minute penalty before sub Ciaran Kearney raised the green flag two minutes from time to tie the scores at 2-6 to 1-9.
