Dogged Fermanagh get the job done
Fermanagh 0-13 Sligo 0-8
Fermanagh bolstered their promotion hopes with a third successive win when they doggedly overcame Sligo at Markievicz Park yesterday.
Ahead at half-time, 0-8 to 0-4, an efficient Fermanagh were able to keep Sligo at arm's length in the second-half, but they still needed insurance points in added time from substitute Sean Quigley and Aidan Breen to ensure a late, late goal from the home side wouldn't spoil the party.
With excellent wing-backs Declan McCusker and Barry Mulrone contributing 0-3 and 0-2 respectively, and midfielders Eoin Donnelly and Ryan Jones showing purpose, Fermanagh had a platform along with potent inside forwards Conall Jones and Seamus Quigley.
A total of 13 wides reflects Fermanagh's dominance - although they didn't show this on the scoreboard - and there were goal chances for Declan McCusker and substitute Sean Quigley.
The hosts, although lively in the second-half, failed to build on an initial lead when they went 0-3 to nil ahead after just four minutes, Pat Hughes with the best of these early points.
Sligo finished with 13 players due to late dismissals for Cian Breheny and Neil Ewing.
