Deise scalp sets standard for Coggins
LONDON manager Paul Coggins has backed his side to cause further upsets this season after they claimed the scalp of Waterford in Ruislip.
The Exiles led for 59 minutes but required a late brace from substitute Lorcan Mulvey to register their first win in 11 months.
London face Limerick, Clare and Leitrim in their remaining league games, and Coggins believes they can pick up more points if they repeat the level of performance they produced against the Deise.
"We're not here to just participate," stated the Roscommon native. "We're here to try and get the results that our work deserves, and we're going to try and continue that for the rest of the season.
"We've been knocking on doors; now we want to break them down."
Robert Aherne's 20th-minute goal lifted Waterford, but the hosts finished the half strongly to lead by 0-8 to 1-3 at the interval.
Waterford improved after the restart, with Gary Hurney using his bulk to fire a hat-trick of points, but London replied on each occasion and when Mulvey scored with his first touch on 53 minutes, their lead stood at three points.
Waterford looked to have snatched victory when they fired four unanswered points, Paul Whyte's double putting them in front for the first time.
But Mulvey came to London's rescue, arrowing over two cracking points at the death to condemn Waterford to a second straight defeat.
