Six points from Dublin forward Diarmuid Connolly spurred DIT into the semi-finals of the O'Byrne Shield by denying Sigerson Cup rivals UCD in Ringsend.
The one-point final margin was a little flattering to UCD as Niall Murray struck for a goal at the death. After an even opening, David O'Connor scored an excellent goal after 22 minutes to give UCD a deserved three-point lead.
But Connolly and Meath man Eoin Reilly scored four points without reply before the break to go in a point up at half-time.
Two Dan St Ledger points put UCD in front again after the interval, but that was the last time they'd lead as DIT's midfield took over and scores from John Coughlan, John Fogarty and Connolly all combined to give their side the cushion.
