Coen shines to push Sligo over the line

A sparkling performance from corner-forward Stephen Coen, who scored 1-4, was the catalyst for holders Sligo to qualify for another final – where they'll meet Leitrim – following a deserved win at Kilcoyne Park, Tubbercurry.

Sligo hit goals twice inside the opening seven minutes. James Hynes netted after 53 seconds and Stephen Coen finished just as stylishly six minutes later.

Sligo finished the half 2-4 to 1-5 ahead, the Mayo goal coming from Ultan Corrigan. Sligo had moved five points clear, 2-7 to 1-5, before Mayo got their first score of the half.
