Clohessy puts seal on stirring Clare fightback
Clare 1-12 Carlow 0-14
CARLOW squandered a five-point lead in the final 13 minutes at Dr Cullen Park yesterday, as a point from left half-forward Alan Clohessy gave Clare an unlikely win.
Clohessy's point put the Banner County in front for the only time in the game, leaving Carlow to question how they lost a match they dominated for so long.
Carlow, who led 0-9 to 0-6 at half-time, looked home and hosed, but Clare, driven by David Tubridy, never gave up, and in the 67th minute, Micheal O'Shea crashed home the game's only goal to level matters.
Clohessy then picked off his third point of the game from play to give Michael McDermott's men their second successive one-point win -- they defeated Limerick by the minimum margin last time out.
