Kildare advanced to the Leinster U-20 football final as they disposed of Offaly at a canter last night in Tullamore.

A surge of 2-5 in the opening eight minutes set them on their way.

Their rapid-fire start was highlighted by goals from Brian McLoughlin and Paddy Woodgate as they blew Offaly out of the water.

Conor Dunne got Offaly's first score after 10 minutes and the Ballycommon man followed that with a goal on 16 minutes to leave Offaly with a fighting chance, trailing 2-6 to 1-1.

Offaly then roared back into the game on 30 minutes, Kevin McDermott's goal reducing the margin to six points.

Kildare led by 2-7 to 2-1 at the break but they kicked the opening four points of the second half to put the result to bed, before McLoughlin grabbed his second goal two minutes later to put more gloss on the victory.

The final 15 minutes saw both sides empty the benches.

Kildare kept the scoreboard ticking over thereafter as a determined Offaly outfit ultimately came up well short.
