Cawley goal sets tone as Summerhill hold off brave Muredach's fightback

Sean Cawley's early goal set last year's beaten finalists Summerhill College, Sligo on their way to victory in this preliminary-round clash at Cloonacool yesterday.

Corner-forward Cawley pounced from close range, and with Cian Breheny -- son of former Sligo senior boss Tommy -- in fine form from placed balls, Summerhill had 1-4 on the board before St Muredach's scored.

A quick-fire 1-1 from Keith Tighe got the Ballina boys going, but Summerhill led 1-8 to 1-2 at half-time.

St Muredach's narrowed the gap to three points, but Summerhill's second goal through Stephen Kerins ended the game as a contest.
